The Partner in Untouched Birth

June 16, 2020

I speak often on the impact untouched birth has on the partner. It is a huge component of the experience! It leaves partners feeling competent to care for their young. All while deepening their love and appreciation for their woman.

I recently attended a birth where the partner played such a significant role, as the birth was medically unassisted. The impact the experience had on him, is radiant. You see the empowerment in the images attached. You can also see it in his actions and words spoken, today.

The partner pictured is already talking in excitement about "Next Time", less than 2 weeks postpartum.

He shares with his partner how proud of her, he is.

He was always affectionate towards his wife, but now he is obsessed, and extremely affectionate towards her. "More than ever before", She says.

He is showing his pride in her ability by saying, You never even asked to go to the hospital or said you couldn't do it like Desirae said most women do, you're the bomb.

He refers to his new baby girl as his "Merm" (mermaid), because she was born under water, into his arms; Completely unhindered.

The partner is impacted in the birth experience, as well! This is exactly how birth SHOULD impact a family dynamic! Bringing confidence, closeness, and bonding; this is the biological norm. This intimate connection comes in the partner's participation in labor/birth! This is what I encourage and teach in our prenatals as The Pennsylvania Birthkeeper; Empowering Birth & Beyond.
